Treatment Options for Facial Veins

In many cases, general rosacea can be accompanied by the appearance of spider veins (or facial veins). Known by the medical term telangiectasia, these broken capillaries can appear anywhere on your face. While generally considered harmless, many patients choose to address them for cosmetic reasons. They develop due to a venous deficiency and have been linked to high blood pressure and obesity. This deficiency can also be caused by non-medical factors, such as excessive sun exposure and rubbing or washing your face too hard. They can become more prominent as you get older.

Treatment Options

  • Laser removal
  • Intense pulsed light
  • Minor surgery
  • Makeup / concealers

In laser treatment, a high precision beam is used to treat these vascular targets. More than one treatment is generally needed. A topical anaesthetic may be used to ensure your comfort. Learn more about laser removal of facial veins from Calgary Vein & Laser.
