Vitamin-C IDS TM (L-Ascorbic Acid) Is the active form of Vitamin-C. Humans do not produce Vitamin-C internally and therefore require outside or supplemental sources of this vitamin. Why is Vitamin-C so important for the skin? As a result of a wide range of environmental influences in everyday life and particularly when the skin is exposed to sunlight, harmful substances, specifically hydroperoxides and lipoperoxides form in the cells. Vitamin-C is a potent free radical scavenger that helps to neutralize the detrimental effects of free oxygen radicals. Free oxygen radicals are produced as a result of metabolism and energy production at the cellular level and weaken their structural integrity. Stablized Vitamin-C Vitamin-C (L-Ascorbic Acid) has excellent anti-oxidant properties. High concentrations of Vitamin-C (L-Ascorbic Acid) formulations for skincare (10% and 20%creams and solutions) are difficult and challenging to manufacture and once manufactured, they are difficult to keep stable. Vitamin-C (L-Ascorbic Acid) tends to oxidize and will turn to a yellowish brown color. For these reasons, some manufacturers tend to avoid stating Vitamin-C concentration values on their labels and packaging, while other manufacturers may manufacture Vitamin-C products at significantly lower concentrations. To be effective in skincare products, Vitamin-C concentrations need to be in the range of 10 to 20 %. | | At Vivier TM Pharma our Vitamin-C IDS TM products have stated concentrations on their labels and packaging.
